What recourse is there if scanpst.exe does not fix
the .pst file?
Scanpst.exe hangs up in the "repair" stage; Task Manager
says it "Not responding".

Alternate it with Scandisk.exe or another disk repair utility. See
http://www.slipstickk.com/problems/scanpst.htm for other recovery tools.
