Form Icons Are Causing Error in Outlook 2003

I have posted 2 other messages in regards to this issue,
but I think I was able to narrow down the problem now.

(sorry for long message, but I wanted to answer all
questions you may have).

This is the issue:

I started with a blank Post item. I added an Action
called "Collaborate", which is basically a Reply
with "Attach link to original message" option.

I published this form to a folder.

Then I changed the icons of this form(both small and
large) to something I created and published this form to
the same folder with a different name.

Finally I created two items based on each of these forms
and posted them to that folder.

If I open the item created with the first form and
sellect "Collaborate" from the Actions menu, it works ok.

If I open the item created with the second from (the form
with different Icon) and try that action I get "The object
is not valid." error.

The problem is clearly because of the icons.

Both forms perform ok on Outlook2002. The problem happens
only in Outlook 2003

Have you ever experienced this?

Thanks,
Artem

I've heard reports of some other problems related to custom icons in Outlook
2003, but don't have any steps to reproduce any of them. Details on how you
created your icons might be useful, or post them where other people can
download and test the issue.

Is this a public folder? If so, are you accessing it through the
PF\Favorites hierarchy? That's inadvisable, unless you've installed the
hotfix for OL2003 PF\Favorites form problems.

Thanks for your quick response.

I think I found the problem. It was because I saved the
icons with true colors. I tried 256 colors and got the
same result, but when I saved them with 16 colors, form
started functioning correctly. They don't look as nice,
but that's ok.

This form works fine with icons saved with true colors in
Outlook2002. The error occurs only on 2003. Very Bizzare.

By the way, the error never actually showed up when custom
action was triggered programmatically using
Item_CustomAction.

I was wondering if the problem might be color depth. Glad you tracked it
down.
