I'm new to the Outlook object model so pardon dumb questions. I'm working
with Outlook 2003.

I need to integrate some homegrown conferencing software into Outlook and
would like to know what options are open to me. So far I've figured out that
I can added a tab to the existing "Schedule a Meeting" form. This is a fine
solution, but are there others?

First question: I notice on the Appointment tab there is the Meeting
Workspace area. If I click the "This is an Online meeting Using" check box I
can then choose various options from the combobox. Each option displays a
different set of fields on the form. Can I add to the list in the combo and
then somehow specify my own fields? Or is this area of the meeting form
specific to SharePoint?

Another question on a more general level. If I press the "Meeting
Workspace..." button (on the Appoint Tab of the meeting request form) I get
a sort of wizard in the pane on the right. This is the pane that
historically has contained the help and search navigation functionality. Can
you tell me if this pane is available to me for my own custom design, and if
so how do I access it through Outlooks object model?

Thanks
Al

1) No, you can't add to the "online meeting using" list. Its functionality
is not exposed to developers.

2) You can't integrate your own task pane (it's a frequently requested
enhancement). You can add to the services available in the Research task
pane, however; MSDN has details.
