Turn off and on Word as Email Editor through code

Is it possible through code to detect if someone has Word set as their email
editor, turn this option off, then later turn it back on again?

That option is stored in the registry, which Outlook reads once at startup.
So if you want a change to become effective you'd have to shutdown and
restart Outlook.
