Bryan, under Tools, Options, I found no General tab. Looked under all tabs,
but did not find "allow starting in Reading Layout" ???
Look in Word, not Outlook.

Thanks, Sue. I looked under Tools/Options/General Tab (and all other tabs)
and still found no reference to "allow starting in Reading Layout"
If I open a document in Word it opens in Normal, but when I open an
attachment from Outlook it now opens it as Reading Layout.

Look again. It's at the upper right of the General tab in Word 2003's Tools | OPtions dialog.

Thanks, Sue. I was looking at work and we have a different version of Word.
Checked and found it on mine!
