Toshiba Satellite system running XP Home Edition. Installed Office XP (2002)
and all runs except Outlook.

Error: MAPI was unable to load the information service mspst.dll

Have already uninstalled Office twice and reinstalled.  Have already
deleted/renamed the 1033/mapi folder and reinstalled.  No success.

Hi,

There are several factors that can cause the problem you are experiencing.  I recommend you try the following steps to see if it resolves your problem.

Step 1: Temporarily disable Third party programs such as Anti-Virus, Internet Firewall and anti-Spam software to test for a conflict.

Step 2: Create a new Outlook profile
=============================
This issue may also be caused by a corrupted Outlook profile.   Please follow these steps to create a new profile to test:

1. Close Outlook.

2. Right click on the Microsoft Outlook icon on the Desktop and click Properties.  Note: If you cannot find it, double-click the Mail icon in Control Panel.

3. Click the Show Profiles button.

4. Click Prompt for a profile to be used and click Apply.

5. Click Add and type "test" in the Profile name box.
Note: Please don't choose the same name of your original profile.

6. Choose Add a new e-mail account and click Next.

7. Choose your email type and type the necessary information.

8. Click Next and click Finish.

9. Click Finish to exit.

10. Start Outlook.

11. Choose the TEST profile in the profile list and click OK. Does the problem occur in the new profile?

NOTE: If the problem is resolved in the new profile, you will need to import your data from the original profile. Please refer to the following Knowledge Base article on how to import
Outlook data:

Scott,

Hi!  I was panicked.   For most of the last 11 hours, I was trying to fix my
brand new “Microsoft Outlook 2003.”  I tried dozens of things, including
multiple installations, uninstalls, etc.  I will not bore you with the
horrible details.

The good news is that I saw your post.  Your suggestion set me on a new
series of steps.  Ultimately, I finally fixed my “Microsoft Outlook 2003.”

All the problems started when I had multiple “Personal Folders” – three to
be exact. Microsoft’s instructions for deleting “duplicate Personal Folders”
were totally ineffective.  Destroyed my entire day!!!  At least, thanks to
your clever message, I can finally go to sleep.  I would probably been up all
night if I had not seen your post.

Thank you!!!

Sharon
