Somehow Outlook continues to download my e-mails to my home computer even
though I've closed the program.  Is there something I can do to the
configuration to prevent it from operating in the background?  Might it have
something to do with scripting permissions in Internet Explorer?

I'm running Office 2000 in a WinXp SP2 environment.

Thanks.

Check if Outlook.EXE is still running even though you've "closed" it.

You might also want to check if Outlook is configured to check your email
when offline.

From the "Tools" pulldown select "Options", From the options dialogue select
the "Mail Setup" tab. Click the "Send/Receive" button and look where it says
"When Outlook is Offline", uncheck "Schedule an automatic Send/Receive every
_ minutes"

No. This setting will not cause Outlook to poll when it is closed.
