Hi Brian,
atfer a few trials, I have found that I have a problem with the definition
of the "delivery location", from the "E-mail Accounts" form.
To be more specific, when I select a local folder from the drop-down box
"Deliver new e-mail to the following delivery location", I expected new
e-mails to be automatically downloaded and shown in that local folder (which
is the topmost in the folder list view).
This is what was regularly happening with my old Exchange server account,
but as soon as I configured my new corporate IMAP account, e-mails are shown
in the server folder view, and not delivered to the local folder, unless I
move them manually.
A colleague of mine has done the same with his account, and it works as
expected. What else should I check in my setup, apart from the form I
mentioned before, to fix this?
thanks
Fabio

IMAP folders can never be the delivery location They'll always stay on the
server.

I suspect there is a difference still that you don't recognize. An Exchange
account and an IMAP account can never share folders.

my intention is NOT to set the IMAP folder as the delivery location, but to
set a local delivery location (a local folder) for messages received on my
IMAP account. This is something that is allowed. I found an help page about
that; look for "Specify where new messages are delivered" - no mention about
the type (IMAP or others) of account. This is also what some of my colleagues
did with their account (we are on the same corporate mail server).
My problem is that, in spite of specifiying a delivery location, messages
keep staying on the server, until I move them manually to my local folder...

... or unless I configure a rule that moves messages to my local folders.
So, what'e the aim of setting a "delivery location" for IMAP accounts?

You could create a rule that will move messages from the IMAP Inbox to a
local PST.
