I ahve been using outlook 2000 for a long time without any problems. I
recently installed activesync 4.2 and now my e-mail wont send and receive.
I've tried uninstalling activesync and the e-mail still wont work. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Are you scanning your incoming and outgoing emails with an Anti Virus suite? Disable the email scanning it does nothing but give you problems. Your resident AV will still be protecting you.

Let us know and good luck
