Why will my email passwords not save when I close down Outlook?

I have just installed Outlook 2003 on a new computer and set up my POP3 email
accounts. However, every time I close down Outlook, it does not save my
passwords, but asks me for them each time I open up. This never used to
happen on my previous computer.

After furious head scratching, JPB asked:
