That, to me, is how it should work, if I'm understanding what you're saying;
Outlook should remember the item in the folder that last had focus and
return to that item when you return to the folder.

I don't think that is how it should work. I never need to see the lack e-mail
that I was reviewing in the folder. I always want to see the latest one.
Outlook Express, Thunderbird, and every other e-mail program I have used,
displays the newest e-mail when you click in the folder.
How do I make this the default with MS Outlook? Currently it goes to the
e-mail I last had open.

I do not believe there is any setting to do that.
