I am trying to move from Outlook Express that I used with by internet
connection (Cox) to Outlook 2003.  I can receive messages, but when I reply
or try and send a new message, I get an message that says"The connection to
Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable.  Outlook must be online or conected
to complete this action."  I have gone thru the options under Tools but can't
find out what is going on.  Thanks.

I suspect you are not using/dont have an Exchange account.
With OL closed, use the mail applet in the control panel to correctly
configure the type of account, then test it there.
Then in Express export your msgs to OL
In OL import your address book
