How does Outlook do with Hotmail ?

Would appreciate any feedback on how you find Outlook works using Hotmail ?
Does it act like a pop3 and it is quick and fast? Or is it like going to
the Hotmail.com
web site which I usually find slow and frustrating........TNX

You can configure a Hotmail account in Outlook 2002 and Outlook 2003. It
doesn't work like POP3 but it uses HTTP so it leaves the messages on the
server and creates a local cache (a bit like IMAP).

Thanks for the info. I don't want to leave messages on the Hotmail server.
Is there a
way around this so they be stored on my hard drive? If not, any suggestions
for a
Pop3 mail account?

You can move them by hand. There are third party tools like HotmailPopper to
make Hotmail behave like a POP3 account.
Don't you have a POP3 account from your ISP? Contact them if you don't know.

Thanks for the info Roady. Where can I find "Hotmail Popper" ?
My ISP doesn't support SMTP as it is a FREE ISP called No Charge which
is only available in Western Washington. It's been great the past 5 years
but
I'm moving so now I have to bit the bullet and pay. I heard Free Hotmail is
going away so I would like to find and ISP and Pop3 mail account that will
work with Outlook. Any suggestions ??? Thanks

You can find information about Hotmail Popper here;

Note that free Hotmail isn't going anywhere. You only have to pay for
Hotmail if you want extra storage (more than 2MB) and some other options.
You probably received chainletters notifying you that your Hotmail will be
closed unless you send it to at least 100 people. If so; STOP THE CHAIN!
These are hoaxes clogging up mailservers just like false virus warnings
(another chainletter) virusses and spam.

I can't help you choosing your ISP as these are different per locale.
