send/receive operation fails

Having difficuly getting Outlook 2003 e-mail working on a new machine.
Copied settings from my other machine where it works well. It passes the
test account settings test. When I attemp a send and receive operation, I
get the following message" ! The operation failed. An object could not be
found."
