This is an extremely incontinent feature that MS has forced upon me. We have
countless emails stored as .msg files covering at least 12 years for Archive
and contractual reasons on CD/DVD. A large number of those emails contain
attachments that are being immediately blocked when opened in OL2003. I now
have to find a PC with an old version of Outlook, open the files and extract
the required file to my PC and then go back and open the original email in
OL2003.
So I now need 2 PC's with network connection running 2 different versions of
Outlook just to look at an attachment that may not even be useful to me.
If blockage was optional it would be far simpler. A disclaimer on unblock
would void any legal backlash.
No need for a second copy of outlook- see
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup/getexe.htm for ways to get the
attachments off.
