Outlook loses passwords when sending/receiving mail

I use Earthlink for my email and they require SMTP authentication. I entered
the settings properly, but (about 1/2 the time) Outlook requires the password
to be re-entered before it will check for email.

Also, I often have to go into the email settings to restore my password,
otherwise Outlook will not allow me to send email.
