how do i set option leave mail on imap server in outlook

I am using ms outlook i connected to the imap account, when ever i drag and
drop mails or open the existing mails then the size of the local pst file is
enormously increasing, and it is not decreasing even i close the mail. I
tried the option "File | Data file management | settings | compact Now " but
still it is not decreasing the pst size. Is there any option to set in ms
outlook so that local pst file size is not increased. And also I want to know
how to enable the leave a message on server option in imap account. And What
is "folder hierarchy on server" in imap server account. please help me...

IMAP mail is always left on the server until you delete it and use the Edit

| Purge Deleted Messages command. THose messages marked for deletion are

also still in the local .pst file that caches copies of the IMAP folders,
which might explain why they continue to grow in size.
