I understand the MSOCache is a Office Setup folder but
I thought Disk Cleanup would remove it. I checked the Office
Setup Files and ran Disk Cleanup but the folder remains with
some files .
Can I just delete in Explorer??

Why do you want to delete it? It's a local cache of your OFfice 2003 install
files and will be very useful if you need to add components, apply service
packs, or run Detect and Repair.

I didn't realize so much was involved with it. I thought it
just a setup folder my Office componants used during
setup. I guess I could have checked MS Help and Support.

Thanks,
James

I think it keeps a record of what you've installed through the Office Update
web site.

I found this information on a site called eldergeek - or something like that. I checked out the links to Microsoft and found the information to  be useful. I hope this helps,Peter
Msocache Folder

Quite a few users have asked about a new hidden folder mysteriously appearing on their systems named Msocache. It's related to Microsoft Office 2003 and contains the install source files from the Microsoft Office 2003 installation CD. This is known as a Local Install Source so that you do not have to insert the CD during subsequent setup or repair procedures. A full description of the circumstances under which the folder is created and methods for removing it are in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 825933 - Local Install Source (Msocache). Also, Frequently Asked Questions About the Local Install Source Feature has additional information
