How do I get symantec fax starter to use a modem instead of a lan connection.

It was working on my system Windows 98 r2,  outlook 2000
I removed my symantec antivirus and installed McAfee antivirus and now I can
no longer send a fax over my phone line modem.  It keeps trying to connect
over my lan connection.  I have gone to accounts and changed the profile for
symantec to go to a modem, but it never stays set.  It always goes back to
lan.

Explain more accurately what WinFax SE is doing. Provide the steps you are
using and what you mean by "WinFax SE is trying to connect over my LAN"
This sounds like a McAfee issue. I trust you've already disabled email
scanning.

I can't say what happened, but an hour later while I was in outlook, the fax
I had tried to send brought up the modem and transmitted the fax.  What it
was doing earlier was indicating it was trying to connect to a sever.
