Outlook Default Profile problem

My predecessor set up a default profile in the netlogon share. When new users
log on for the first time their mail settings are configured automatically.
This is great except an Outlook Address Book entry for "TempUser" is
generated that causes all kinds of problems. I cannot find it in the
ntconfig.dat registry hive. Any ideas where this beast might be lurking? I
was wondering if it could be in the MS Exchange Settings.fav and how would I
get it out?

The default profile creates a "tempuser" OAB that does not really exist.
Untill this is removed from their mail settings, the mail system locks up
when they try to send mail because it is looking to check addresses against
this ghost OAB before sending.

We still need more details. Since there are no properties to set when you
add the Outllook Address Book to a mail profile, it's beyond me to
understand what "tempuser OAB" might refer to.

Sorry. I will try to be clearer. The initial problem was that users were
complaining about mail being extremely slow and they had to kill Outlook and
reopen sometimes when it locked up. I looked at their Outlook services under
Outlook Address Book. In the configuration of OAB there were two listed
address books. One for the user's contacts folder and another ghost entry
called "TempUser" that does not actually exist as a contacts folder. Once you
manually delete the ghost entry for TempUser, Outlook acts normally. I
discovered that if you delete the users roaming profile (or just their
Outlook profile) then the "TempUser" ghost address book entry re-appears.
When a user logs on with no profile, the email settings are automatically
configured by a "Default User" profile in the Netlogon share. My predecessor
seemed to be incorrectly using "TempUser" to generate settings for
"%username%”. But I cannot find the part of the default profile that is
creating this ghost Outlook Address Book entry. The Default Profile used to
create a bogus mailbox entry for TempUser but I found that and removed it. I
do not want to blow away the entire Default User because it is nice to have
Outlook automatically configured.

I think you can fix this in two stages -- first update the Default Profile
so that it has no Outlook Address Book service. Then update Default Profile
again to add the Outlook Address Book service. This should clear out any
phantom contacts lists that were previously shown.
