Contacts Subfolders with contacts are not imported

My XP Prof. O/S crashed, it was reloaded and the data files including the PST
file were saved.  I imported the PST file, got all my email and subfolders
emails but the Contacts are not shown in the  drop down when I click on  
TO,CC or BCC, go to the drop down and try to go to a subfolder.  They are in
the subfolders if I go directly to the Contacts folders.
