Reinstall of .pst backup file

I recently had to reinstall Windows XP onto my computer and as a result I had
to reinstall all my programs including Office 2002. I backed up my Outlook
.pst file and reinstalled it after the Office reinstall. It all seems to be
fine with one exception. When I click on my inbox after firing up Outlook, I
get a pop-up with the message "The path specified for the file
D:\Outlook\backup.pst is not valid." When I click "ok", it pops up a browse
box for me to indicate where the .pst file is located. I assume the "D:" in
my pop-up message refers to the drive where I originally backed up my Outlook
.pst file before I reinstalled my operating system. Does anyone know how I
can get rid of this annoyance? Where should I direct it to? Thanks

You "reinstalled" your data file?
What exactly did you do?
You must configure Outlook to use your previous data file instead of the new
one that a new installation would have created:
- Go to Tools > Options > Mail Setup > Data Files > Add...
- Add the PST you'd like as your new default, then Close > OK to exit the
Options dialog
- Go to Tools > E-mail Accounts > View or change existing e-mail accounts
- Select the PST you just added in the "Deliver New e-mail to the following
location" dropdown (it will most likely appear just below the current
default Personal Folders file) > Finish
- Exit and Restart Outlook
- You can now close the previous default PST (R-click on that pst folder
while in Folder View and select "Close <foldername> Folders"). If you have
any information in your former PST that you'd like to transfer to your new
default PST, you can drag and drop from one to the other before you close
the old one.
