Sir

When I access my Exchange server(Exchange server 2000)
over a software firewall my Outlook client takes long
time to open and takes long time(Approx.4 min) to insert
attachement in mail. Both the Clients and Server is in the
Same LAN.This problem is happening only with Windows XP
Client PC's.Pls help me in this regard

What software firewall are you using, what ports are open, and do you see
the same problem when you disable the firewall? This isn't really an Outlook
issue per se, if Outlook connects and performs fine without the firewall
enabled ...but more information will help us.

Hi Lanwench

Thanks for your reply. I am Renjith'c colleague and thought I can provide the details you required.

We use eTrust Firewall enterprise 3.1 with SP2.

The Firewall is just configured to allow all traffic between the client s and the server. (Actually the clients are of a group company and hence are segregated from the parent co's server using firewall. They have a seperate domain under the same AD forest.)

The Server (Exchange 5.5) is in the parent co's network and domain. Users have accounts in the group co's domain.

When the problem occurs, there are no deny log in the Firewall.

Clients use Outlook 2000.

The strangest part:
The problem occurs only with WinXP PCs in the client network. The Win2k and Win98 PCs also with OL2000 have no problems.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Venkat
