Norton Internet Security and Outlook Causing Runtime Error

I installed Norton Internet Security with Outlook 2000.
The complete error message is "Runtime error! "Program
c:\Pramgram~1\office10\outlook.exe This application has
requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for  more
information."

I receive this error when starting Outlook each time a
new user logs onto the machine.  So if I log in tomorrow
and no one else has logged in since then no error would
produce. But if my wife logs in between then and now then
both my wife and I would each receive the preceeding
error message.

I have two computers. Windows NT Server System (which has
log-in requirements) and a Win XP Pro system (which gets
its log-in requirements from the NT server.

If I click the ok button on the error message, then
reopen the Outlook application, it opens with no
problems.  Everything seems to function within Outlook
and Norton Internet Security.

Is there anything I can do or change to make the
application start up properly the first time vs having to
click ok and restart the application?

I've got a similar message - I upgraded my Trial Norton
AV which had been working fine (great even)to Norton
Internet Security. Since then the error message and
similar happenings to yourself. I also find Outlook
cannot find my server and therefore not deliver email
until I disable Norton IS.
Using Outlook 2000 and XP home.
Be grateful for a remedy

I can only assume when you upgraded from the trial
version you did uninstall the trial version first, per
the instructions?
You may try writing to Symantec as they were good about
trying to provide an answer.  The problem was the answer
did not correct the problem.

In short, the error is caused by the Norton Antispam Plug-in fo
Outlook.  I believe it only occurs if you have multiple email profiles
The quick fix is to rename the plug-in.

Antispam addin back into Outlook even if you try to remove it, and tha
is the culprit that's causing the error. What I did is rename the NI
antispam addin to another name (eg. from MsouPlug.dll to MsouPlug.bak
so the antispam program can't find it. This seems to work as NIS didn'
generate any error and just skips loading the addin.

You can find this MsouPlug.dll in directory <drive>:\Progra
Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Antispam

Thank you!

Your tip on renaming the plugin worked! It's ridiculous the arroganc
of the symantec programmers! (Meaning I bought a Firewall, not a
AntiSpam program, then I can't even turn it off?) Then they put thei
head in the sand and act like the runtime errors don't exist?

I work as a tech and over the years have found Norton's Products to b
effective and easy to use. But each year their is more and mor
installation headaches! :( It is also very frustrating that thei
software does not allow you to "Install over itself" to try and fi
problems, every time you have a problem, their website says to remov
all Symantec products and start again!

I have a similar problem / error message. Upgraded from
Norton AV trial version which worked really well to
Norton Internet Security. Now receive the same error
message and I am unable to send/receive emails when NIS
is enabled - which rather defeats the object eh.
Using XP Home / Outlook 2000.
A remedy would be grstefully received
