When I open Outlook 2003, why do I need to click
Send/Receive to see new messages?  In previous versions,
new messages were automatically displayed when opening
Outlook.

Do you have Outlook 2003 set to do an automatic send/receive every 10
minutes (or whatever value you choose)?  Automatic send/receive at startup
only happens if you have Outlook set to check for new mail automatically at
a certain interval.
