Outlook 2000 question

I just reloaded a pc with windows xp pro and loaded office 2000 on it. I
set my email account up in outlook 2000. When I cick on the send and recive
button it asks me for my password. i enter the password and click the box
to remember password but it doesn't remember it. I also entered it in the
account setup and checked the box box outlook will not rememer the password.
any one know how i can get outlook 2000 to remember my pssowrd?

If you are still having problems after applying both the SP 1 & 2 patches,
