SP3: Program trying to access e-mail addresses

After installing MS Office XP Service Pack 3, now I get
popup messages saying: "A program is trying to access
your Address Book", or ".... access your e-mail
addresses". This happens when a spam filter checks
incoming e-mail messages, and when my PDA syncs with
Outlook. My only options are to deny the access, allow
it once, or to allow it one time only for a few minutes.

Is there is way to ALWAYS allow certain programs to
access the addresses, rather than granting permission
each time?

Most of the popular antispam products (IHateSpam, Norton Antispam, .etc)
have updates available to correct the tightened security introduced by SP3
for Office XP.

As for the PDA software, check with the makers of your PDA software. (For
example, it might just take a newer version of ActiveSync, .etc to solve the
problem)

I also have this problem since updating Outlook. I know
its related to ActiveSync. The knowledge base article
says upgrade ActiveSync however I have the latest Outlook
and Activesync and I still get this message.

I've tried to re-install ActiveSync but the problem still
exists. I also know of a few other people @ work with
the same problem.

Any ideas?

Actually the problem started happening to us also on all our Office
2003 and Office XP with SP3 machines. The only way we have found to
bypass this problem is to go to Tools/Options/Mail Format and check
the
"Use Microsoft Office Word to edit e-mail address".
"Use Microsoft Office Word to read Rich Text e-mails".

We were getting the warning messages everytime we wrote an e-mail or
sometimes on certain replies also. If anyone knows why this happens
and how to correct it so that we don't have to use Microsoft word,
e-mail me at grendon@americantraveler.net.

In the meantime hope this solves your problem or at least gets rid of
that irritating message.
