Making mail profile always available

OutLook 2000

According to what I have seen in help, it is possible for
the system manager to configure that the mail profile will
be always available by having it being stored on the
Exchange server. However, there is no
description/explanation of how this is accomplished.

Could someone either describe this process or point me to
an article which describes how to accomplish this task?

This isn't done in Exchange or Outlook, really - if you use roaming Windows
profiles, the mail profile will follow along nicely.

Keep your profile sizes as small as possible - redirect My Documents to the
user's home directory, either manually or via group policy folder
redirection. This helps a lot.

No, this is not possible. The Mail Profile are settings configured at the
local client on how to connect to the Exchange server. Exchange will hold
the mailbox data (e-mails, tasks, rules, etc...).

You can automate the creation of mail profiles by using prf-files. More on
how to create prf-files can be found in the Ofice Resource Kit.

If so could someone please explain to what the following
is referring (copied from the help for OL2000)?

Having your settings always available

Your system administrator must configure your user profile
to travel with you so that your settings, which are stored
on a server, will always be available whenever you log on
to a computer. This is especially useful if you log on to
different computers at your company or if you share your
computer with another person. When you log on, your user
profile is downloaded from the server to the computer
you've logged on to.

That is referring to Roaming Profiles; part of Windows not Outlook.
