How do I find out what kind of server my e-mail client uses (pop3 or imap)
and how do I find out the incoming and outgoing server addresses?

You will have to check with your ISP for those specific details.  Just ask
for your e-mail settings and they should be able to give you that info.  As
an alternate method, you can check your ISP home page for a support area and
look for a topic describing setting up e-mail accounts.
