When I try to have Outlook XP (2002 edition) import address from Outlook
express, I do not receive an option for importing from 6.0.  Hence, I get no
imports.  Any ideas?  I'm to the point of re-typing everything into outlook.

It will still work. List the steps you are using and what happens.

From both Outlook Express 6.0 and the Address Book (I opened from
Accessories as a stand-alone program) I follow the steps from Microsoft for
Exporting the Address Book.   Iselect the text/comma separated option, I
selelct a file name and location, and continue on to the end point of the
Microsoft process.  In the top of the dialogue box I get an eror message that
the export process had an error and am kicked back to selelcting a file name
and location.  No matter how many time I repeat the process, the same thing
happens.

Because of the fact that the problem happens from Outlook Express and the
Address book, I suspect the problem is not isolated to Outlook Express.  I've
searched Google and Microsoft for someone else having the problem.  The only
thread I could find suggested the location of teh copied file may not be
large enough.  However, this is not relevant, I believe, since the hard drive
has plenty of space.

Thanks for taking the time to think on this one with me.  I've already
invested about 6 hours in trying to figure it out myself and gotten nowhere.
I'm to the point of considering the $35.00 fee from Microsoft support.  Yet,
if the suggestion from Microsoft is to delelte and re-load the programs, that
will be a problem since I can't seem to export to save the addresses.

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Importing is done from Outlook's File Menu: Import and Export > Internet
Mail and Addresses

Yes.  I've tried Export from Outlook Express and Import from Outlook.  When
I've attempted the Import using Outlook, I get a message saying nothing
transferred.

I can't watch you, so post the precise steps you are using.
It works fine here and always has.

5)  Click "Next"
6)  Click on option of "Outlook Express 4.x, 5"
Note:  I'm running Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1106

   Uncheck

     "Import lMail"
     "Import Rules"

7)  Next
8)  Select "Outlook Contacts Folder"
Under options, select "Allow duplicates to be created"
9)  Finish

10)  Get a box that says:

    Import Summary
      0 of 0 Addresses Imported
0 of 0 distribution listes imported

11)  Click "okay" and the box disappears

Odd. Works just fine here.
How is your Windows Address Book populated?
Have you run all the latest updates for Office XP?

The Address Book is populated just by one person (me).  I have two divisions
in the address book, one for professional and one for personal contacts.

No, I have not run any updates for Office XP.  I suppose another possible
conflict could be with my platform being Windows 98.

Two "divisions?"
What does that mean?
You can only import your one default Contacts Folder.

I had the same problem. I kinda discovered a work around. I downloaded and
installed Mozilla Thunderbird. In Thunderbird I imported the address book
from Express. Also in Thunderbird, I  saved the address book as a Windows
Comma Separated Values file. I then imported this file into  Outlook.
Kinda goofy but it worked.
Feel free to contact if you have any further questions.
