Outlook 2003 slow to open messages

Hello all,

I am having an issue with Outlook where it is slow to respond to input.
Whenever I click on a menu button, right-click a message or folder, or
double-click to open a message, it will take from 30 seconds to 2 minutes
before the menu or message will respond. My best guess is that Outlook is
looking for some kind of add-in that is no longer functioning and I have to
wait for a timeout before Outlook will decide it has failed and proceed.,
but I have no idea where to look to see what is failing. Another piece of
the puzzle... this only happens with a particular roaming profile and will
follow the profile to whatever computer the user is logged in to. Other
profiles on the same computer work fine. I could just kill the profile and
rebuild it, but would rather not if I don't have to. It's a matter of pride
now; I can't let the computer get the better of me ;-)

Anyone have any suggestions of what might be wrong, or can offer some
troubleshooting advice?

Thanks,
Shawn Flynn

Hi Shawn,

I don't know exactly but I remember that I had such problems too, starting
work with Outlook2003. In my case it was the option to use MS Word to create
Mails. Everytime I started Outlook and started to work, Outlook hangs or
responds very slow. When you open the menu "Tools" -> "Options" -> "Mail
Format" you can decide to use MS Word or not. Perhabs this is a possibility
to resolve your kind of problem...

Best greetings
Steffi
