request notification without requesting for receipt

I have Microsoft Outlook 2003. Is there a way to be notified when recipients
open your sent mail without asking for a receipt from recipient

You could ask the recipient to call you when they get the message. :-)

Otherwise, no.  That's what the read receipts are for.

....and most people I know get as cranky about read receipt requests, as I
do, and disable them outright. If you want to find out whether someone read
your message, find out if they did the thing you asked them to do in the
message, etc.
