I have followed the directions on the gmail page on moving my acct to
outlook. It passes the test and yet does not work. What gives? How do I fix?
Is this some weirdness between google and microsoft. Any suggestions? Help!

Could you be a little more specific?  What doesn't work?  Does it send?
Doesn't receive?  Do you get any error messages?

What version of Outlook?

I am using the 2003 version of outlook on Windows XP. Outlook will receive my
messages from Gmail but will not send. I am not at that computer now, but I
seem to recall that the message has something to do with timing out and
security of the message. I need to be at home on the laptop to give it to you
fully. I can do that tonight when I get home. My apologies for the lack of
specifics.

O.K. make sure that you go into "More Settings" and on the Outgoing Server
tab check the "My outgoing server requires authentication" box.  Have it use
the same settings as the incoming server.

In addition, ensure you have the option checked that the connection requires
encryption on the advanced tab of your gmail account settings.
