What would happen if i copy the current pst files in my computer on a flash drive and
replace put these pst files on another computer.
The intention is to be able to synchronize the two outlooks without using any synchronization program.
or what would be the solution?

Assuming both computers have a version of Outlook that will read/write those
files and you properly configure them to do so then you would have the same
data on both computers. (with the normal allowances for data
added/downloaded, of course)

"Assuming both computers have a version of Outlook that will read/write those

How do I configure them to do so? Which configuration do I exactly need to take care of?

"with the normal allowances for data

What does "normal allowance" refer to?

Thanx in advnace

Depends upon the version of Outlook.  You need to point both of them to the
same PST files.  Are you copying them from the flash drive onto a computer
hard drive or just accessing them from the flash drive?

Means that if you change an item on one computer or check your e-mail on one
computer the other computer isn't going to see that change/new mail until
you sync.

If you do, make sure you do NOT overwrite an existing PST or you may corrupt
your mail profile.  Why not just keep them on the flash drive?

Well, I simply did not know that I can keep the pst files on a flash drive.
If this really works, then I can keep all pst files on the flash drive,
and then carry this flash drive from work to home and have a single
calender and contacts pst file, which means that I will solve the synchronization problem!
I will try this Brian. I hope it works as you say.
Thanx!

You may have issues with rules, but you'd have them anyway when transporting
a PST.

Actually I agree with Brian -- it would probably be easier to just leave
them on the flash drive.

Ben M. Schorr - MVP - 01 Dec 2005 19:33 GMT
Yes.  Just to be safe you should make a copy of those files to a hard drive
(one side or the other) periodically.  Just in case you lose the flash drive
or it gets damaged.
