Hi,

I've had a problem recently where, if I forward messages as attachments
from my work e-mail account (using Outlook), to my home acount (using
Outlook Express), the forwarded messages seem to have vanished from the
received e-mail - even though the size of the received forwarded
message suggests that they are actually still there!

I had this problem in the past and did solve it, but I can't for the
life of me remember how I did it.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Make sure you're not sending mail to yourself in Rich Text Format since OE
will just hide the WinMail.DAT attachment that holds the formatting & other
attachments

Hi Vince

I've just checked and I'm sending in HTML format. I've just sent a test
version in plain text format though to see if that works anyway -
thanks

I've just done a quick test using my default setting of HTML, and found
something really odd. If I send to my normal e-mail account (UKOnline),
and check its inbox using the web interface, sure enough the forwarded
messages are not there and there's just the winmail.dat attachment
instead. However, if I send to my other account (Virgin Net) using
exactly the same settings, when I check the web inbox for that one, the
attached messages are there, intact! It would appear that for some
reason my ISP UKOnline has started converting the attachments to
winmail.dat, meaning that they're in this state before Outlook Express
ever gets hold of them.

May need to start using my GMail account instead...

OK, after some experimentation I see what's happening. I'm going to
start a new more relevant thread now I know which question to ask!
