Outlook Quote-fix (http://home.in.tum.de/~jain/software/outlook-quotefix) is known to be a very handy program when it comes to fixing Outlook's quoting behavior. However, the last update was released in May 2003, and it seems that the software has been abandoned.
My concern is that Quote-fix seems not to work correctly with the format=flowed standard, used by Thunderbird as well as Outlook Express 6 (since SP2). When a message is received that uses format=flowed (i.e. an extra blank space at the end of each line, which indicates to "aware" e-mail clients that they should wrap), Outlook Quote-Fix will mess up the quoting when replying.
Could anyone advise on this issue, as well as whether you have any information about the status of Quote-Fix. (Note: I have previously contacted the author of the software, but have not received a response thus far.)
Thanks and best regards,
Ivan

It's a dead product. The author hasn't done and won't do any more work on
it.
The only time format=flowed would be an issued is because you used
quoted-printable format which is NOT supposed to be used in newsgroup posts.
It is rude to lots of users, apparently many on a Unix platform. I had this
discussion before which got very heated. The RFC was ratified some 6 or 7
years ago and yet many NNTP clients won't handle format=flowed.
You might want to look at Fidolook if you are adamant in staying with OE
rather then using a different newsreader. However, documentation sucks for
Fidolook and you'll be left guessing or frustrated trying to figure out how
to get many features to work. Something as simple as changing the quoting
intro when replying is perplexing. Nice product destroyed by piss poor
documentation.

Vanguard - what does QP in newsgroups have to do with outlook quote fix?
Ivan - outlook 2002 and 2003 should properly wrap lines - you would only
need OQF to remove the header and make it easier to bottom reply.

Who uses OE-QuoteFix in Outlook to do e-mail? Everytime I've seen a user
post a question about it was when applied against newsgroup posts. There
are so many users that post in the Outlook group regarding question on
Outlook Express that it seemed likely the OP was really asking about Outlook
Express.

Because he asked about:

Okay, than I'll stick with my first statement: It is a dead product.

Vanguard, I was indeed asking about what I was asking, and not about what you thought I was asking. :)
Diane, I know that both Outlook 2000 and 2003 (not 2002) are capable of soft-wrapping when using QP. However, my intention is to be able to use standard quoting (>) without the text being messed up. This Quote-Fix generally achieves well, but there are some situations where it seems to fail - that's why I was asking about the status of the software. Using ">" is handy if one wants to do an inline reply (otherwise I don't mind replying without prefixing the original text).
Thanks,
Ivan

Since Outlook-Quotefix is for Outlook, not Outlook Express or Thunderbird,
why would you expect it to work for anything by Outlook? If you want
equivalent functionality for Outlook Express, first ask in an Outlook
Express newsgroup then visit
http://home.in.tum.de/~jain/software/oe-quotefix/ . There is no equivalent
product for Thunderbird, that I'm aware. Finally, for questions regarding
either Outlook-Quotefix or OE-Quotefix, write to the author, not this
newsgroup. If the author doesn't respond, you're out of luck, because
neither product is on-topic here, except as a solution to some Outlook
handling of Plain Text messages.

Obviously I misread entirely the intent of the original message. Sorry.
