Outlook sort of forgets my E-mail Password

I've been using Outlook 2003 for years, and just in the past
week or so I'm having a problem. The program is set to check my
POP/STMP acct every few minutes. The account is set to remember my
e-mail password, etc.

Several times a day outlook hangs with a window asking me to enter my
outlook password. The program has already populated the entries in the
window (email address and password). I can click OK but the program
reports a timeout (unless it happens while I'm logged on and see the
window immediately. Thereafter Outlook works fine for a few hours,
only to 'forget' my settings again.

The acct screen under TOOLS shows that Outlook is to remember my
settings. The window that pops up asks if I want outlook to remember
the address/password. That box isn't checked, but, as I said, the the
data is already there.

So this happens erratically, with most times Outlook checks my mail
going fine, but the occasional check hangs.

Why is this happening? More importantly, how can I stop it?

Steve,

Speaking from the same experience, this is usually a problem between Outlook
and your service provider.  You may want to place a call to your service
provider's support line so that they can track it down.Ours was doing the
same thing recently, and we had it resolved within 24 hours of calling Tech
Support.

Happy end of year :)
