I have a user that finishes with the company tomorrow. Yesterday he
asked how he can export his contacts list. I told him to go to File ->
Import/Export -> Export to a file but it came back as the function is
not installed. I logged on as and local admin account, ran outlook and
installed the import/Export functions (for excel) I checked it worked
on the admin account, logged into a user account and ran the
import/export function. It exported the list of contacts.

When the user logged on and runs import/export he gets the message
telling him that it's not installed.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get this funtion to work with this
user?

Thanks

Robert

Have him create a new PST file using the File menu > New > Outlook Data File
command then copy the data he wants to that PST file.

Sorry Just read your reply.

I added him into the local admin group, installed the components ran
the export and he now has an xls file with his contacts.

I should have mentioned that he's connected to and exchange server. Can
you copy contacts to a PST file, I thought it only held emails if it's
connectec to exhange?

Thanks

Robert

You can copy just about any sort of Outlook data to a PST even if you're
copying it from an Exchange mailbox.
