Hi all. I have no idea where to ask this extremely simple question, and
Microsoft tech support has been completely unhelpful. I have MSN premium
service through Qwest, and MSN is my ISP. I want to subscribe to
non-microsoft product related newsgroups, and I assume that MSN provides
newsgroup access, but no one can tell me what the name of the news
server is. Does anyone know? I want access to alt, rec, and those kind
of newsgroups.

So why did you not perform a Google search on "+MSN +newsgroups" before
asking?

It doesn't explicitly say so, but I suspect that when they had NNTP servers
that they only carried the microsoft.public.* groups.  The Microsoft NNTP
server (msnews.microsoft.com) only handles Microsoft groups.  Guess you'll
have to find an NNTP provider elsewhere that carries the other categories.
