Stopping automatic openings of folders in Outloo 3003

Is there a way to view my meassages without Outlook 2003 automatically
opening the first one every time I click on a folder? Thanks, DJ

Sounds like your view...  look under VIEW, READING PANE (or pain) - try
OFF and the message you are highlighted on will not display
