I am new to Outlook. When I used the Works Calendar, it would pop up my
reminders even when the calendar was not open. I can't figure out how to get
Outlook to do the same. I can't keep Outlook open all the time, because it
uses too much memory.

No, Outlook does not work the same as the Works calendar.  Outlook must be
open to fire reminders.  You can always use a third party program that will
keep only a stub of Outlook open to receive mail and notify you of
reminders - one that some have recommended is Magic Mail Monitor.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact.  All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, beakmom asked:
