Thanks Milly and Brian for the clear explanations. I switched from Earthlink
(which I loved) to MSN to cut back on DSL expenses and got a “really good
deal” on DSL with MSN Premium through with a one year contract. It’s so
different! I started realizing that I hadn’t saved any money when I learned
that I couldn’t use my Outlook 2000 to download emails. Then, when I got
2003, I couldn’t set rules to automatically sort and save the large number of
emails I get for work into the folder tree I established. I signed a year
contract, so I’ll try to figure it out.
I still have a question about the following:
>Brian: What I did is to create another folder in my Personal Folders (Outlook
>Today) PST called "Saved Hotmail" and I drag-and-drop to it those Hotmail
>messages I want to keep. This not only makes a local copy of the message
>independent of the Hotmail server, but it also removes them from the Hotmail
>server, thereby reducing the space I'm using there (not that that's such a
>concern).”
Right now my Outlook 2003 folder configuration looks like this (hierarchy
shown by tabs – hopefully):
Personal Folders
Deleted Items
Drafts
Inbox
Personal (my folder tree)
Work (my folder tree)
Junk Email
Norton AntiSpam
Outbox
Sent Items
Search Folders
MSN
Deleted
Inbox
Junk E-mail
Sent Items
Question: It will work if I move the emails out of the MSN-INBOX folder into
the existing INBOX-WORK folder, right? If I understand correctly, the email
saving folder simply has to be under PERSONAL FOLDERS rather than MSN–INBOX
for this to work. Just double-checking that I understand so I don’t delete
another group of messages! Thanks in advance. You've been very helpful. Amy

No tabs. Tell me if this is correct:
+Personal Folders
+---Deleted Items
+---Drafts
+---Inbox
+---Personal (my folder tree)
+---Work (my folder tree)
+---Junk Email
+---Norton AntiSpam
+---Outbox
+---Sent Items
+Search Folders
+MSN
+---Deleted
+---Inbox
+---Junk E-mail
+---Sent Items

I'm sorry, but I don't know what you mean by "it". Do you mean moving them
from MSN to Outlook?

If that's what you mean, then yes. Dragging your messages from the Inbox
under MSN to some folder (any folder) under your Personal Folders will move
the message from MSN to your local folders and allow you to view them even
when not connected to MSN and they will be removed from the MSN folder.

Thanks Brian. Everything is working just the way I wanted it to. I
appreciate the help.
