Each time I close outlook I get an error message c.10 seconds later.  When I
look at what it is about I don't have a clue what it means and I've no
desire to find out!  How can I / can I reinstall Outlook without loosing all
my settings?

What is the error?  What version of Outlook?

Yes, you DO.  That's why you posted here.

Why reinstall?  You haven't even bothered attempting any troubleshooting
yet.  What happens when you run Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe
/safe") and then exit?  If the problem goes away then you have a plug-in
installed that is screwing up when it gets unloaded when Outlook has to
unload it before Outlook itself can exit.
