Delivery reciept / Read reciept problem

I have tried to configure Outlook2003 to return a receipt to me when my
intended recipient's server has received the message.  I don't wish to
receive a message indicating that the recipient has read the message.  I
checked delivery receipt under tracking options and all was well - I am
getting the requested delivery receipt.

The problem arises that in some but not all cases I am also getting a read
receipt as well.  And the recipient is also getting prompted by a box
preceding the message saying that I have requested a read receipt.  Not the
case I wanted.

Any and all ideas as to how to correct this discrepancy would be most
appreciated.

Not your problem but how their mail server handles requests.  nothing you
can do.
