emails staying in outbox

i have a few pcs that have windows xp sp2, firewall is turned on and outlook
is in the exception list

when they send an email it stays in the outbox and no emails are recieved
until you click on a folder

it is a mix of 2000 and 2003

can anyone help with this please

Enable diagnostic logging and see what's happening.  The Microsoft
Knowledgebase has articles describing how.
