Hello

I want to have the ability to dump the Outlook MSI file on my web
server  so my customers can download the MSI file and install it
locally. I have tried to run the MSI file for Outlook locally to test
this out and I get an error stating:

Error 1713 Setup cannot install one of the required products for
Microsoft Offcie Outlook MUI (English) 2007

I dont have Outlook 2003 installed locally but I do have the rest of
Office 2003. Any ideas why I cannot do this? the outlook MSI is on the
office 2007 CD and in the outlook.en-us folder.

Thanks

Well, first, I'm curious, you purchased licenses for your *customers* to
install Outlook?  That's exceedingly generous, but I do hope you're either
gifting them the license (which I'm not even sure is allowed) or making it
clear to your customers that when and if they aren't you're customer
anymore, they need to uninstall the software.

That said, I'm not entirely sure that you can do it from an internet based
network (as opposed to a file share), but,

cb410ed1033.mspx?mfr=true

should be your first stop.

cb410ed1033.mspx?mfr=true

should also be useful.  Basically, the msi alone isn't enough.

FWIW, this is a fairly common arrangement with hosted Exchange providers.

Curiosity killed the cat. I don't want to customise outlook I want to
provide my customers with a dowloadable file that can be used to
install Outlook manually. I thought the MSI would work but it doesn't
and requires you to run the office setup program.

Thanks anyway.

The MSI won't work, because Outlook 2007 comes in multiple MSIs. The
only way to make sure all are installed in the correct order is to use
setup.exe
I'd presume that you can store the required files in the same directory
structure as they are in the ISO/CD in a self-extracting file that after
extraction launches setup.exe?

Good idea, I will look into that possible solution. Thanks for your
help
