Hi all,

I have imported emails/address book from Outlook Express into Outlook and
when I hit reply to any emails that were NOT in my address book in Outlook
Express I cannot send the message as it does not find the email address like
Outlook usually does.  Is there any way around this or would I have to
manually add an email address to each contact?

Thanks

If Outlook Express worked before, importing its data into Outlook won't
affect its operation.  If OE won't send replies, you need to ask in an
OE-oriented newsgroup like

Hi, thanks for the reply.  I don't think I made myself clear.  Basically i
want to be able to reply to the messages that i have imported into Outlook
from Outlook Express without having to add the email addresses into my
contacts list.  Normally in Outlook I can hit reply to a sender that is NOT
in my address book and their email address appears in the TO: line.  I have
also imported the address book and so obviously can reply to those contacts
WITH email addresses stored no problem.  I do not need to use Outlook
Express in the future.

Thanks

After having read each of your five separate posts of the same question,
what you were getting at finally dawned on me.  You should avoid such
multiposting in the future.  The .general newsgroup would have been
appropriate.

Outlook will certainly send to addresses that aren't contacts, but you don't
import "address books".  Outlook doesn't have an address book, it has a
Contacts folder.  I don't know of any way to import addresses from Outlook
Express that are not in Outlook Express's address book and by importing them
you add them to Outlook's Contacts folder, so they, by definition, are in
your Contacts folder.

Now, when you transfer messages from OE to OL, you should never import them
from OE using Outlook.  Instead, use OE to export them to Outlook.  This
will preserve message attributes that importing them with Outlook does not
retain.
