If you are using Yahoo mail in the US, you must have a paid account.  If you do have a paid account, then follow the directions on the Yahoo!Mail site.

Some Yahoo regions still permit free POP3/SMTP access.  Yahoo.com does
not unless you have a paid account with them.  We don't know to which
Yahoo domain you are connecting.

For Yahoo.com, Google on "YahooPOPs".  This runs as a local proxy as a
POP3-to-HTTP protocol converter that lets your POP3 e-mail client get
e-mails from your freebie HTTP Yahoo account.
