Implementing Archive Policy

We activated an Archive Group policy on our Win2K3 Server with Exchange Srvr
2K3.  Is there a way to get the policy to not take the same action on the
archive.PST file?

In the Archive folder, I set the "Do not archive items in this folder" for
all folders.

In the Retention Settings, I set set all items to be retained for 60 days.
I also set "For Items Not being Retained"  send items to Deleted folder.

What happened was that all items in the archive folder over 60 days old were
sent to the deleted items folder, even though all folders were set to "Do
not archive items in this folder".

How do I set the policy to only work on the Active Outlook folders and not
on the Archive PST file?

Something else must have happened here. The Exchange retention settings do
not apply to pst-files but only to the Exchange mailbox.

The directories in the PST files do accept an Auto Archive setting,  and
were acted upon by auto archive.  They were treated like any other undefined
directory in Exchange.

Is there any document out there that defines what really happens when
Retention policies are used?

Also, under the properties of a folder in the Archive.pst file, Retention
Policy is listed and is currently reading "The network administrator has not
set retention policies."

(Since the last event, I deactivated Retention policies.)  Obviously, the
Retention Policy does impact files and folders in the open .PST data file.
