I have my clients outlook to archive old items to default archive folder but
the
messages get copied to archive and not deleted from personal folders.

I DO NOT want to permanently delete any old messages, only move all old
messages to archive.

Any thoughts?

What type of account? What version of Outlook?

Can you post the complete list of archive settings? The default behavior of
autoarchive is to move the items from the source PST to the archive PST.
